Gray clouds lurked ominously on the horizon this weekend as 30,000 folks descended upon the Guards Polo Club, in England's Great Windsor Park, to the 26th annual Cartier International Polo. Not only did the next thunderstorm hold but England beat its New Zealand opponent nine to seven for taking household the Coronation Cup, wiping away final year's memories of defeat at the hands of the Argentineans. But polo has under no circumstances been the primary draw here? The authentic fun is off-pitch inside Cartier and China white tents.
Just after China white's successful re-launch final September; the London club went full-scale, decking its tent in Oriental splendor. The red cushioned pagodas and billowing warning flag complemented the Asian-inspired lunch menu? Although the inclusion of 1ber-model David Gandy served to distract lots of the female diners from their food. Meanwhile, in the Cartier tent, host Arnaud Bamberger welcomed partygoers to a three-course meal by renowned chef Anton Mossman. Guests ate underneath a topiary designed to look like a polo game, although tent itself was decorated in purples and creams with motifs from Cartier boxes, creating a quintessentially English summertime experience.
Buoyed by the house team's success, a party spirit was inside the air as tea was served, some time before the infamous annual China white party began. Model Poppy Delavigne looked eye-catching in their short red gown with matching lipstick and leather jacket, proving that polo chic must not be staid, even though some Hollywood glamour started in the shape of Camilla Belle and veteran actor Tommy Lee, who looked dapper in the off-white suit.
It was at China white's V.I.P. lounge exactly where items truly got rowdy later at dusk. Ali Spencer-Churchill was spotted chasing a sensational blonde close to the dance floor as revelers sipped champagne. TV host Cat Delay, wearing a well used maxi dress, posed delightedly which has a bevy of hunky army men, whilst Geri Hallowell gradually sick and tired of watching the action from your private bus rooftop and pulled her beau, Henry Beckwith, down to join inside the dancing. The case had to stop at 11:30 p.m. because of park restrictions, but with talk of a house party in Berkshire, plus the usual hordes decamping back again to London's club land, all those determined to continue the festivities partied on.
